Data Protection Notice
“Personal Data” means information such as name, age, identity card number, passport number, address, gender, date of birth, occupation, contact information, email address, employer, race, nationality and any information that may identify you.
You confirm and consent to the firm collecting, recording, holding, storing, using, dealing with and otherwise processing such Personal Data that have been or from time to time be provided by you and/or obtained independently by the firm from other lawful sources such as government agencies and other parties involved in the commercial transaction for which you have engaged us. We use and process your Personal Data for any of the following purposes:
- responding to your queries;
- to contact and communicate with you through telephone, facsimile, short messaging service, email and/or mail;
- for administrative purposes in the course of provisioning our services to you;
- to meet legal and regulatory requirements;
- providing you with our newsletters and periodicals through short messaging service, email and/or mail;
- for such other purposes by applicable law or with your consent;
- client retention programme.
In order to provide the services you require, we may disclose, transfer or provide access to your Personal Data to third parties and/or service providers engaged by the firm to perform functions on behalf of the firm. We may disclose the Personal Data to the following third parties and/or service providers below:
- your authorised representatives or your legal advisers (e.g. when requested by you to do so);
- credit-reporting agencies;
- the firm’s agents who are performing functions on behalf of the firm;
- our professional advisers, including our accountants, auditors, insurers and lawyers;
- other service providers (for example, procuring on your behalf or if you obtain services from other providers (banks, insurance companies, etc), we may need to disclose your Personal Data for fulfilling our obligations to you);
- government and regulatory authorities and other organisations, as required or authorised by law or in good faith, if such action is necessary to (i) comply with any law enforcement agency requirement, court orders or legal process or; (ii) protect and defend the rights or property of the firm;
- to such parties as may be permitted under Malaysian law;
- in the event of a sale of business, disposal, acquisition, merger or reorganisation involving the firm or its assets to another party,
- our appointed service providers in relation to our client retention programme.
You confirm that such disclosure, transfer and access may occur, and hereby permit the firm to release the Personal Data to third parties and/or service providers engaged by the firm and that the said parties have your consent to process such Personal Data.
When we consider it necessary for the purposes of processing, or providing any services to you, or data storage, we may transfer or share your Personal Data to our lawyers, employees, third party service providers within or outside Malaysia, under conditions of confidentiality and similar levels of security safeguards.
We take all reasonable precautions to ensure that the Personal Data we collect, use and disclose is accurate and complete. However, the accuracy of that Personal Data depends to a large extent on the Personal Data you provide. We recommend that you:
- let us know if there are any errors in your Personal Data; and
- keep us up-to-date with changes to your Personal Data.

You may at any time request for access to, or for correction of your Personal Data or limit the processing of your Personal Data, or seek further information from us by contacting us using the contact details stated above. With regards to your right to access and/or correct your Personal Data, we have the right to refuse your request to access and/or to make any correction subject to exceptions allowed by law. You are to put your request in writing for security reasons together with a nominal fee for each access request.
We have the right to modify this Data Protection Notice from time to time to reflect changes in the law, changes in our business practices, procedures and structures by placing the modified Data Protection Notice on our website and by sending you a copy by normal post or any other modes we may choose. Your continued use of our services and/or continued communication with us following the modification signifies your consent to the modification regardless of you not being aware of or not receiving the modified Data Protection Notice.
In the event of any inconsistency between the English version and the Bahasa Malaysia version of the Data Protection Notice, the English version shall prevail over the Bahasa Malaysia version.
